On another day we visit the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and the quirky Back to Back Houses. Finally we trace the footsteps of WilliamShakespeare with amorning in the historic town ofWarwick followed by an afternoon in sumptuous Stratford-upon-Avon. An evening mystery tour is also included along with a night of quizzes and bingo.

The Britannia Birmingham Hotel, right in the heart of the city features Jenny’s Restaurant where you can watch the chef’s work and relaxing Harvey’s Bar. The highlight of this tour is when we take our seats at the BirminghamHippodrome for the classic musical Dirty Dancing. This fabulous production features passionate romance, sensual dancing and heart-pounding songs such as Hungry Eyes and I’ve Had the Time of My Life. On this unforgettable adventure, we explore historic Durham renowned for its stunning cathedralwhichwas recently voted Britain’s favourite building. The grandeur of this splendid landmark dates back to the 11th century and, along with Durham Castle, it was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1986. Our next excursion is a morning scenic drive along the Northumbrian coastline. On the five day holiday we soak up the fascinating atmosphere of bygone days at the awardwinning Beamish Open Air Museumwhich vividly recreates life fromover a hundred years ago. Ride the trams, visit the shops and the old farm, venture down the mine and see the old schoolhouse. This is no ordinary museum – this is a place where you experience history.

Based at the award-winning Hamlet Court Hotel on the border of Counties Kildare and Meath. Excursions include a trip to Kildare with a tour of the Irish National Stud and the world famous Japanese Gardens, a visit to Trim, one of Ireland’s most beautiful heritage towns with entry to TrimCastle the largest Anglo- Norman castle in Ireland. And, of course, no visit to this part of the Emerald Isle would be complete without a full day in the delightful city of Dublin. Hotel hugely popular with Glentoneers in 2011. We visit some of the locations used for Emmerdale and enjoy an entertaining guided tour of Holmfirth where the late lamented Last of the Summer Wine was filmed. Sticking with the TV theme, we head to the National Media Museum in Bradford with its seven floors of galleries, a five storey screen and packed programme of events (admission included). Exhibitions show how TV programmes are made and galleries explore every aspect of theworld ofmedia fromphotography to animation.We also spend a full day in the lovely Yorkshire Dales, visiting the market town of Skipton.

Lap up the luscious English Lake District on this scenic holiday that includes a day tour to Keswick & Cockermouth. Another excursion takes us to Bowness, Grasmere, the Kirkstone Pass and mighty Windermere, Queen of the Southern Lakes where we include a scenic cruise. We also enjoy free time in Carlisle city centre. Our base is the welcoming Hilltop Hotel just outside Carlisle where the modern leisure centre includes an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa and gymnasium. You’ll be staying at theMerrion Hotel in the heart of lively Leeds featuring a relaxing bar and a comfortable brasserie restaurant. Holiday includes excursions to the historic spa town of Harrogate and fairytale York with its magnificent minster. We also go on a steam train ride on the Middleton Railway which dates back to 1758 and is the oldest commercially successful railway in the world. There is an engine shed where themost antiquated example is over a hundred years old as well as a visitors’ centre with café and souvenir shop.

New Itinerary for 2012 
Staying at thewelcoming Arrochar Hotel on the shores of Loch Long we venture out to explore some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. We pass a glorious day in colourful Inveraray which enjoys a picturesque setting on the shores of Loch Fyne and is home to an imposing castle as well as other historic monuments before continuing to the tiny quaint village of Loch Awe. On another daywe head to the Perthshire town of Crieff for our visit to the Famous Grouse Experience (guided tour included). Scotland’s oldest distillery, this attraction offers guided tours, an interactive zone and an award winning show. A third excursion takes us to Oban with its busy harbour and level esplanade as well as the highland village of Glencoe. There will be some entertainment at the hotel.

You’ll love this short trip to the luscious Lake District.We spend time drinking in the blissful scenery of wonderful Windermere before proceeding to the charming County Hotel in Kendal for dinner and entertain-ment. On Monday we visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery in the picturesque village of Hawkshead showcasing original sketches and watercolours from this famous children’s author.
